The Drawing House

The foundation owned one of the largest collections of architectural drawings in Scandinavia and had nowhere to show it. Paper drawings can only be shown in low light, and most of them had never left their plan chests.

We put the archive in the ground, where temperature and humidity are easiest to hold, and the public rooms above it. The hall runs the full height of the building, so from the front door you can see people working on the mezzanine and the gallery above.

The top floor steps four metres forward over the entrance and is lit from north-facing roof lanterns, which give even daylight with no direct sun on the paper.
